One step lightly after the other, the female strode along, placing her paw lightly on the ground to test if it would give way, before continuing on. She liked this plot of land. She'd planned on taking it as soon as the other pack had left, but then she had found herself too late to get it without battles. Two packs had tried for it before. She had listened, watched, from the deserted shore of a small island off the coast of this larger island, watching and listening. She wanted to make sure she wouldn't come in and have two wolves attacking her at once. She had brought with her Spark, her mate and co-leader, but she would fight alone today. Her head was held at a fifty-five degree angle, showing that she was both confident and relaxed at the same time. Her body was held on four lightly furred paws, and she was standing half on her toes, half flat. She had to be ready for both a fast-moving opponent, as well as if her opponent happened to be heavy and strong, like herself.

The black female- hosting mint green stripes and spots- was four feet tall, weighing in at two hundred pounds. Her body was long, distributing the weight out well. Her fur was sleek and clean, and her eyes were bright, half closed, in a seductive manner. If she were to come onto a territory like this, most wolves would think she was coming to join them. And perhaps this wolf would think so. She didn't know how the wolves who were here, who she was challenging, would react to her presence- but she could imagine it. Coming at her, snarling, but confused by what she would say. Perhaps they would stop and stare at her, or perhaps they would just leap to attack her and ignore her words. She hoped they would stop. It would be interesting, as she hadn't tried the approach she was planning on using today.

"Hellooo?" called the female, ears pivoting as she listened to try and see if any wolves would pop out of the shadows to meet her. Both her chest and abdomen expanded and contracted as she breathed lightly, through her nostrils. Her tail was curled and she wagged it slowly, to the left and right, then back to the left. Her muscles were in a midway state between being stiff and ready for battle, or being relaxed and ready for play. She would decide upon how she would act once the other wolf were to arrive. "I hear there's a mighty handsome wolf around here.." Oh, how it would be awkward if the wolf who would come would be female.. Her voice was silky and seductive in nature.

There was another on Seigen's land. Someone that was not one of theirs yet. The very thought of it made Artiel's skin crawl in disgust. Yes, he understood that others would come to them looking for a way to join up but never before had he been faced with someone not of Seigen coming to them. The tiny mutt brushed hanging mossed away from his body as he went to meet whoever was calling out, desperately wishing that Niero was here to tell him what to do.

"Hellooo? I hear there's a mighty handsome wolf around here.."

If this had been anyone else, the flirty tone may have made a difference. Somehow Artiel doubted that even Niero could keep up his cold air when faced with such a friendly greeting. But this was not Niero - Artiel firmly believed that no one outside Seigen was worth anything until they joined the fold. Friendly or not this female was still a high level threat, between her size and her unaffiliated nature.

Artiel slunk quietly around the female, eyes fixated on her face. Any attack was likely to come from directly infront of her, where her most valuable weapon was situated. Blackblood jaw strength put him at a disadvantage, that much was clear. Not that it had helped his other opponent much at all. Perhaps this female would be just as easy to run rings around. At the very least putting her in the center of his circle forced her to turn to keep him in her line of sight.

Artiel had felt no need to speak with the big male he had fought so recently. This female made him feel no differently, but somehow the small cross knew Niero would be upset if he ran off potential recruits without speaking to them. Perhaps she would be a useful part of Seigen... There was nothing else for it then

"Why are you here?"

Her head turned as her sensitive eyes caught motion, and she stood, facing him, her body still in its half relaxed state. Her heart was beating a bit faster now, but she could see his size could be used to her advantage. Of course, her size and how she was relatively less fast than him, that would be to his advantage. But if she got him cornered, if she could stop him from moving, she could easily break his neck- or so she assumed. But if he got her down, his quick movements could injure her more than she wanted to be. Thoughts of the battle that would occur were flashing through her mind, choosing battle techniques that would go with his size. She would have to see his speed first before choosing what to do. And she would have to keep things in mind. He would no doubt try something that she wasn't expecting- so she'd have to keep on her toes and ready for anything. But he would be an idiot to attack her while she was acting so... friendly. She knew she was going to teach her children in the dark art of deception.

Her eyes held a curious gleam to them, and she stood, her head tilting slightly and one ear tilting to the side and to the back. Her eyes were on him at all times, and though she was acting like a perchance recruit, she had to be ready for him to attack if she did. Heck, if she was joining a pack she would be acting the same way. Her one paw moved to the inside of her curve as she twisted slightly, watching as he came around her. He seemed similar to her own mate. Good. She'd been practicing with him.. Learning how to defeat smaller, faster wolves. She didn't know what things this stranger knew that her mate hadn't shown her. If it turned out this wolf tried something she hadn't worked with, and Spark knew the move, and it caused her to lose, she would shred his ears.

She turned the opposite way he was circling, once he was about halfway around her, so she was facing him. Moving to face him.. it was a simply defense mechanism, one she had used once when she had visited a pack.. she didn't remember how that had turned out, but she had come out alive, so she assumed it had worked. Her body swayed slightly as she peered at him.

"Why are you here?"

Her eyes took on a daring light and she opened her maw to reply to his question. "Looking for a little excitement." Her voice rang and her tail wagged once. She was curious as to what the male was thinking.

'Looking for a little excitement.' She said. Right.

Artiel's face stayed carefully blank at the female's smirking reply. What did that even mean? If she wasn't asking for acceptance, why was it she felt the need to crawl up onto Seigen's land after he had beaten off the last challenger? Some creatures were just beyond comprehension.

"That is not an acceptable answer." His reply was deliberately blank, accompanied by a slow uncaring blink. If Artiel was annoyed no one would ever know. "Is there a reason you're wasting Seigen's time with your presence, or are you truly selfish enough to delay utopia?"

As circling clearly wasn't getting him anywhere, Artiel switched tactics, backing off until his paws hit uneven, boggy ground. It was never far away in the marshes. Hopefully his smaller size and weight would give him an advantage on the soft soil.

The black female's eyes glittered as she watched him, her body lifting as she stood lighter on her paws. She'd have to move fast. She determined that the wolf was probably a fast one, and she would have to work fast to defeat him. Have to fight off attacks on her limbs; if she fell it would be easy for him to take her out- or so she believed. Her mint-streaked bangs fluttered in the slight wind, and her nose twitched as she waited. Obviously her tactics would not apply to this wolf. She would try once more, before letting him attack first.

She saw what he was doing. Silly boy, she could see how he was growing lower in the soil, and she could hear his paws hitting the bog. She remained in her place, standing there simply and waiting for his response. Ha! No business. He'd see. She had some business here. Oh yes. She needed this land, just as this wolf wanted it. But she needed it more. She wanted pups again, and she knew that they would need a safe place for her pack to rest as she raised her pups. She had half-grown pups already, and it was hard for them to care for them while they had no protective boundaries. The place they'd stayed in was no longer safe. So she'd come. He'd see.

"And what work is that? I'm curious." She said, her mint green eyes on him as she waited there. Utopia? Was that the name of his pack?

Whatever.

"And what work is that? I'm curious."

Artiel's ear twitched minutely, the only physical sign that his intentions had shifted. Years of secrets and lies had schooled his body language to be damn near impossible to read for those outside his pack. Seigen's most loyal soldier had had enough. Every second the dark wolf took up his attention was a second he could be using to dig Seigen's roots deeper, making alliances or helping those truly in need. What right did this clearly arrogant individual have too keep Artiel distracted? Niero would be disappointed.

It's about time this was finished.

Artiel gathered his legs beneath him to spring forward, hitting the ground a few steps in front of the female before launching himself toward her muzzle in an attempt to snap at the female's nose. He didn't aim to do much damage, but the shock of an unannounced attack would hopefully get the woman to show her true colours. No one came for acceptance or protection and showed such disrespect. If she was not here for acceptance...well, unless she was willing to fight back, she'd have to explain herself.

If Artiel's attack connected he'd simply snap his teeth loosely closed on the female's sensitive nose, perhaps breaking the soft skin there. He would then release her and attempt to dart around to her left side. If he did not connect he would still attempt to flank her, trying to turn the opposite way she turned in order to dodge. Either way, his voice would be the same dull monotone when he next spoke.

"I have no time for you. You are unsuitable. Leave immediately."

If the female then backed off, she would be safe. If she hesitated for even a moment Artiel would not hesitate to dart toward her closest side, mouth gaping wide open, aiming to connect with her back knee. If he was successful he would attempt to open a gash there with his jaws before retreating again in the hope of keeping out of range.

{1} As the smaller male leaped forward she was ready, having been ready from the moment she'd arrived. She would crouch, his teeth bit on to the very tip of her nose but she let it happen and when he let go, she would leap to try grab his throat. But by the time she was mid-leap, he had moved towards her side. She swung around, using the momentum of the attack she had wanted to do but hadn't, and aimed her shoulder down at the upper part of his midsection, to try shove him down or away. Her teeth shone yellow-white and her tongue lolled slightly from her maw as she did this.

"I have no time for you. You are unsuitable. Leave immediately."

{2} At this, the huge female's eyes glimmered with bloodlust and excitement. She hadn't had a good fight in what seemed like ages. She was riling for some new wounds- none serious, she hoped- but her more immature size wanted simply to be in battle. It would be fun! The female did not hesitate, rather, she twisted to follow his head, her rump swinging around so it would be protected. His teeth snapped on air, and she aimed her jaws for the male's scruff, coming at him from the side to try pick him up and throw him. If she suceeded in grabbing him, she would try throw him into a hard tree or rock. If she did not, she would aim her weight for him.

((OOC: I apologize about how long this post has taken - my computer is currently on the fritz, and if I use it for more than 15 minutes at a time it shuts down. I'll be using another computer to reply for the rest of this fight, so it should no longer be a problem.))

Artiel let out a pained grunt as the female shoved him, hard, in the ribs. Backing off with tiny droplets of blood colouring his maw from the scratches on her nose, he could feel he had landed badly. It took him a split second to take in the injury - bruised, non life threatening, too little pain for the bones beneath his pelt to be cracked or broken at this stage. There was nothing he could do to alleviate the pain for now. Better to dismiss it until later.

As much as Artiel would have liked to be able to simply put the pain of the shove aside, he was in no way any more powerful than any other mortal. His next attack was slowed due to his bruising. Just a slight limp, but enough for him to see the female's head lowering to grab him by the scruff.

Hmph. Taramo had tried the same thing. They were coming quite predictable, these huge dires.

Rather than continuing his circle Artiel planted his paws again the ground, lowering his hindquarters and raising his head to meet her with his jaws open. Her lowering head gave him the option to aim more vicious bites toward her face - and this time he was serious about causing damage. Any doubt he had felt about harming her had disappeared when she had continued to attack.

If the female continued her current course Artiel would attempt to snap and tear at her muzzle and lips, hoping to at least make them sore enough to have her reconsider biting him in the future.

{1} Bloodvane felt as if she was on air, the blood droplets on her maw flecking her face as she was diving in for the bite- but then the small male stopped and stood solid to retaliate. Anger blazed in her eyes as she felt teeth graze her lower jaw, her teeth snapping shut as she turned her head in case he tried to bite, calculating carefully what she would do next, quick as a bird in flight. She didn't have time to think things out carefully, so she decided quickly, her gleaming teeth showing yellow-white in the swampy light and glistening as she tried to clamp her jaws on his muzzle, tight and to hold it there instead of nips.

If she suceeded in getting his muzzle {2}, she would attempt to throw her weight down into his and try to crush him into the ground and use her weight to hold him there. If she got him down, then she would decide what to do next. Her black fur fluffed up as she realized that if he bit it might hit fur instead of body- and although it couldn't be too fluffy from the water she'd waded in, it was a start. Her claws dug into the soil as her mint eyes shone with anger.

You couldn't plan too far ahead in battles. There was no sure thing the opponent would do.

As Artiel's teeth grazed past the huge female's jaw, he couldn't help the flash of triumph in his eyes. Her head jerked to the side, no doubt hoping to save her face from his snapping jaws. Little did she realise she had given him a much better, now unprotected target for his attack.  As Bloodvane's head moved, she had left her throat unguarded.

Perfect.

The smaller canine leaned even farther forward, lifting his front legs from the ground in order to attempt to clamp his teeth over the soft column of her throat before she could realise her mistake. If he was able to get a good grip on the female he would try to hold fast despite the jaws snapping at his head, no doubt the female trying to mimic his own former attack.

If he was unable to close his teeth around her throat Artiel would attempt to continue his rush forward, this time keeping his head down to try and tear at her chest. The teeth that came to grab at his muzzle hit the back of his neck, catching on his skin under his thick undercoat and opening a painful tear there. Hopefully the attack would leave Bloodvane off balance and keep her from throwing her greater weight around.

If she still attempted to crush him he would continue to try and tear away at her chest, his head and neck crushed but also protected from her jaws by her own bulk.

Bloodvane let out a feral snarl as Artiel's teeth snapped into the loose skin near the base of her neck- not hitting anything important. Her maw turned into a snarl and she tried to bite down deeper into his neck and she tried to rip whatever she could get her jaws on, to shreds- mainly the base of his scull and his spine. She growled at her situation.

If she were to be successful in digging her fangs deep into his back, she would pull, but if her teeth were unsuccessful, she would rip away, snapping at the jaws that were gouging for her throat. Her would body twist, her right hind leg aiming a kick for Artiel's underside as she would roll backwards. The massive she-wolf let out a growl of disgust as she felt black liquid dripping from her neck. Her tail, striped in green, flashed right and left as she fought with her victim.

She could feel a greenish haze seeping into her vision.

Artiel felt more than saw the female twist to reach toward him as his teeth snapped closed over the lower part of her neck. Teeth raked over the back of his head and neck, cleaving through fur and skin to dig long, bleeding furrows. The pain made the already scarred male's breath catch in his throat; none of the past scratches had been enough to burn like these did, the next snap of the big brute's teeth catching his upper shoulders.

Despite the screeching pain Artiel held on tight. Letting go of his hold on her throat would mean losing all the ground he had made so far, plus the deep wounds scattered across his neck and shoulders would stiffen his muscles, taking away the only real advantage he had had until this point - speed.

Before either of his fights had begun Niero had made Artiel promise not to take the challenger's lives. Bloodvane was making it hard to keep that promise.

The merle mutt lifted both forelegs off the ground, standing strong with his teeth still clamped around Bloodvane's neck. He was weakening, but he still had strength for this.

Artiel pulled back sharply, taking his full weight onto his back legs while clenching tighter around his mouthful in warning. This was a gambit at best - no wolf had the power to crush an opponent's windpipe like a great cat, but a solid tug could end a few different ways; with a punctured windpipe, or a torn vein, or at the beast breathing difficulty. He had promised no death...he had not promised he would not threaten it. The tug he had given was harsh, but it had not yet broken skin.

Berserker rage or not, the message had to be clear.

Yield to me or we will take our chances on a ripped throat.
